One of my favorite stores has done it again!

Those who know me, know of my love for The Container Store. I was once told that I am hyper-organized. I go there just to look around, always leaving with new found treasures. A dear friend told me once that she could work at The Container Store, I don't blame her. The company is often listed in the top 100 companies to work for and now after the first National We Love Our Employees Day on February 14, 2010, ... << MORE >>

I hate SuperBowl Sunday

Ok, well not really but I do strongly dislike SuperBowl Sunday. While I am not a football fan I do keep track of what's going on. I have no choice, I have sports fan parents. What I do like about the SuperBowl is ... << MORE >>

Email Overload

As my friends will tell you I am ALWAYS on the look out for increased productivity. Additionally, I have WAY too many email accounts. I have read many articles and books on controlling email. This being the case I could not wait to read the article by Gina Trapani in the Fast Company magazine, Work Smart: Conquering Your Email Inbox.

I have been using a hybrid of David Allen's Getting Email Under Control and what Ms. Trapani suggests. The highlights are:
1.) Clear your inbox ... << MORE >>

Apple's Latest Device - the iPad

I have to admit that I am in constant awe with the products that Apple comes out with. The company truly knows how to think "out-of-the-box". Many in the tech world have been awaiting the Apple announcement that was released yesterday on their latest innovation. I have to admit I was counting down myself. Reports late last week speculated that the new device would be a true rival to Amazon's Kindle. My family and friends are probably tired of hearing me go on about home much I want one and am disappointed that it didn't ... << MORE >>

Adventures in Customer Service: A Communications Company - Part 1 of 3

Excerpt from the latest eNewsletter... Introduction Not too long ago, my friend Denise C. said to me, "Maybe you should host training on Customer Service." We brainstormed on how it would work and I began researching how Customer Service is working (or not working) in various industries. From that came the series: "Adventures in Customer Service". These are ... << MORE >>

Is a Netbook really worth it?

Netbooks, those little computers that are somewhere between a 3G phone and a laptop, is it right for you? Well, to make that determination you’d really have to think about what you need out of a portable computing device.  It’s important to note that these smaller, lighter, heartier computers are not designed to replace your desktop or laptop; they are intended for supplemental use.

Below is a brief set of comparisons between a Netbook and standard laptop:

An End of Year Thought on Charity

Here it is the end of 2009! As you wrap up your year and prepare for a new and exciting 2010, I’d like to ask that you not forget about a year end donation to your favorite charity/non-profit organization! Why make sure you donate before the end of the year? That’s simple, because you and your favorite organization both benefit! You benefit because you can add the donation to your 2009 tax return for the Federal Government. Your charity benefits because they get that much closer to their ...

Blizzard Contingency Planning

The blizzard in the east this past week was a wake up call for many small businesses.   With it being the last shopping weekend before Christmas, many businesses were looking forward to crowded stores and ringing registers.

Not so much when there is a foot or more of snow.  I heard on a local news station today where they were predicting that 30% of small businesses may not see holiday 2010.   One reason cited: ...

Protecting Digital Media an Update

Recently I wrote about options for protecting digital media in the Danico Enterprises December Newsletter. I covered Carbonite, IDrive, Mozy, Safe Backup, and SOS Online Backup, all are highly reputable relatively well known companies within their field. Since that article has been released there is another digital media storage company that has been brought to my attention: SugarSync (www.sugarsync.com).

SugarSync is not a company you'd find by just a simple web search, (I had to really hunt for it in some major search engines using terms like "Digital Media Storage" and the like) but ...
